An ecosystem consists of the biotic and abiotic components which surround it, as well as support all its needs by the help of solar energy. The biotic components consist of all living organisms such as bacteria, protozoa, algae, moss, ferns, plants, and animals. While the abiotic components are non living objects which can be found around living things, such as sun, soil, air, water, temperature, and so on.
An ecosystem can differ between one region and another, and this depends on its geographic location and its climate. In general, the ecosystem is grouped into two categories, namely the terrestrial ecosystem and aquatic ecosystem. Furthermore, each ecosystem could be more specifically categorized according to their respective characteristics.
